Nachdem Regensburg vor einem Jahr die Ausschreibung um die Austragung des Ironman gewonnen hatte, war klar, dass ich dort starten werde.
Die Saison war teilweise sehr anstrengend und zäh, da das Wetter im Frühjahr nicht mitspielte und ich Mitte Mai eine neue Anstellung als Projektmanagerin angenommen habe, welche von mir sehr viel Energie und Kraft verlangt. Jammern hilft nichts. Da ich kein Profi bin, habe ich einfach meine frei verbleibende Zeit genutzt, so gut und effektiv wie möglich zu trainieren.
Deswegen musste ich auch fast alle Vorbereitungswettkämpfe ausfallen lassen, um die Wochenenden zum Training nutzen zu können.
Der  1. August konnte kommen und ich freute mich vor allem darauf, dass es ein Heimspiel war und so viele bekannte Gesichter an der Strecke sein würden.
Schwimmen im Guggi war wider Erwarten sehr harmlos und ich habe fast keine Schläge oder Tritte abbekommen.
Bereits an der Radstrecke waren an den verschiedenen Stellen viele Bekannte, die mich laut anfeuerten, sodass ich einfach nicht langsam fahren konnte.  Die Radstrecke war sehr anspruchsvoll und windig, also keine Zeit zum Ausruhen.    
Der Lauf war Wahnsinn. Die Strecke war gespickt mit Zuschauern und bekannten Gesichtern, die alle lauthals anfeuerten.
Nach 10:44 kam ich zum wunderschönen Zieleinlauf nach Stadt am Hof und freute mich, dass ich den Wettkampf gut durchgestanden hatte.
Nächstes Jahr werde ich wohl erst einmal eine Ironman Pause machen und jetzt freuen Chris und ich uns erst einmal auf unsere Hochzeit am 4.September;-)

Die letzten Wochen habe ich für einige gute Trainingseinheiten genutzt und ich bemerke langsam aber sicher Fortschritte. Seit zwei Wochen habe ich wieder mein Triathlonrad eingeweiht, um mich so früh wie möglich an die Sitzposition zu gewöhnen. Letzten Sonntag sind Chris und ich zum ersten Mal die Ironmanstrecke abgeradelt und ich muss sagen, die ist gar nicht so ohne… die sollte man auf alle Fälle mit Respekt angehen. Ich habe auf alle Fälle bemerkt, dass ich noch einige Kilometer Training brauche, damit ich die Strecke beim Ironman gut schaffe. Am Donnerstag hatte ich meinen freien Tag und das Wetter war absolut genial. Ich habe den Tag genutzt, um einfach nur Sport zu machen. Es war traumhaft!! Daran könnte man sich gewöhnen. Ich habe eine erste Bergkraftausdauer-Radeinheit  und anschließendes Bein-Krafttraining absolviert. Ich liebe solche Einheiten. Gestern und heute waren Chris und ich zusammen radeln und wir sind fast trocken geblieben….Naja, im Wettkampf kann man auch mit dem Wetter Pech haben.  Dafür haben wir uns heute Nachmittag mit einem Saunabesuch im Bulmare belohnt. Das Leben kann so schön sein!

Jetzt sind wir wieder seit einigen Tagen in Deutschland und der Alltag hat uns wieder.
Südafrika war ein Traum. Am Tag des Argus war es zwar wieder ziemlich windig, aber viel besser als letztes Jahr. So hatten wir ein super Rennen und geniale Aussichten. Chris konnte sogar den dritten Platz in seiner Startgruppe belegen!
Die letzte Woche haben wir sehr ruhig verbracht und es uns sehr gut gehen lassen und neben den Trainingseinheiten viel gefaulenzt.
Leider ist in Deutschland das Wetter nicht annähernd so gut wie in Südafrika und da es uns am Karfreitag definitiv zu kalt war zum Radeln, haben wir unsere Skatingski gepackt, um eine letzte Tour in den Bayerwald zu machen. Der Schnee war zwar schon etwas sulzig, aber die Sonne war ein Traum und es war noch bis nach Schareben gespurt. Jetzt sind wir allerdings doch auf Radfahren umgestiegen, um doch etwas triathlonspezifischer zu trainieren.
Ich habe mich entschlossen, folgende Wettkämpfe in diesem Jahr zu bestreiten: Olympische Distanz Citytriathlon Amberg am 13. Mai, Mitteldistanz Kulmbach am 6. Juni, Olympische Distanz Kallmünz am 12. Juni und den Ironman Regensburg am 1. August.

Morgen ist es soweit. Dann werden wir zusammen mit 35.000 anderen Radfahrern die 109 Kilometer lange Cape Argus Pick`n`Pay Cycle Tour bestreiten. Das Rennen führt von Kapstadt an der Küste entlang über Muizenberg, Simon`s Town, Richtung Kap der guten Hoffnung und dann am atlantischen Ozean über Scarborough, Chapman`s Peak und Camps Bay wieder zurück nach Kapstadt. Es ist wahrlich ein logistisches Meisterwerk, wie die Organisatoren dies hinbekommen. Die Autobahnen werden extra an diesem Tag gesperrt und ganz Kapstadt ist an diesem Tag im Rad-Fieber, sei es als Starter oder als Zuschauer an der Strecke.
Gestartet wird ab 6.15 Uhr (Profis) im 3-Minuten-Takt bis 10.00 Uhr (offene Klasse). Nachdem wir letztes Jahr schon am Start waren, haben wir das Glück, in einer gesetzten Startgruppe schon ziemlich früh starten zu dürfen. So wird Chris um 7.01 Uhr und ich um 7.04 Uhr an den Start gehen (letztes Jahr waren wir in der Overseas-Gruppe um 8 Uhr). Natürlich werden wir schon versuchen, zügig zu fahren, allerdings steht das Erlebnis, an diesem Event teilnehmen zu dürfen und die wunderschöne Landschaft im Vordergrund. Sonst hat man niemals die Möglichkeit, diese Strecke mit dem Rad fahren zu können. Und außerdem werden wir versuchen, unfallfrei ins Ziel zu kommen, da bei den Massen an Startern natürlich schon Vorsicht geboten ist.
Unsere Startunterlagen haben wir heute im Good Hope Center erhalten, zusammen mit vielen netten Startergeschenken wie Duschgel, Shampoo, Spülung, Salatöl, Trinkflasche, nochmal Duschgel, 15 Abfalltüten(wofür braucht man bitte diese Abfalltüten?!?).
Jetzt werden wir dann noch eine kleine Warm up-Runde fahren, ehe wir unsere Räder für morgen noch wettkampftauglich machen werden und unsere Kohlenhydratspeicher auffüllen;-).
Morgen früh müssen wir dann nämlich früh raus aus den Betten, da wir uns um 5.00 Uhr Richtung Kapstadt aufmachen werden. Es wird sicherlich ein toller Tag werden, mit vielen eindrucksvollen Erlebnissen. Ich berichte wieder. Drückt uns die Daumen!

Wir hab

en eine wahnsinnig tolle Woche hinter uns. Montag auf Dienstag waren wir in einem Strandhaus im West Coast National Park, direkt an einer Lagune. Traumhaft. Wir hatten das Haus ganz alleine für uns und irgendwie schien es auch in der Nähe keine Nachbarn zu geben. Wir verbrachten zwei wunderschöne Tage am Strand, beim Sonnenuntergang, beim Bird-watching, beim Grillen am Abend auf unserer Terrasse (nachdem wir das Feuer endlich anbekommen hatten).
Bei der Rückfahrt machten wir in Yzerfontein, einem kleinen Fischerdörfchen an der Westküste, zum Frühstück in einem süßen kleinen Café, in Darling beim Apartheid-Museum Evita se Perron und in Paarl halt.
Gestern haben wir eine Township-Tour gemacht, das wohl beeindruckendste, was wir hier bis jetzt hier erlebt haben. Wir sind zusammen mit einem schwarzen Guide, der selbst aus einem Township vor Kapstadt stammt, in mehrere Townships gefahren und haben dort über Kultur, Religionen und das Zusammenleben der Menschen erfahren. Wann hat man schon einmal die Möglichkeit, sich mit diesen Menschen zu unterhalten? Wir haben einen Kindergarten besucht, in dem so süße kleine Kinder waren, und als sie extra für uns gesungen haben, musste ich mir ein paar Tränen wegwischen, das war einfach zu rührend, diese unschuldigen kleinen Wesen, deren Leben doch schon so ziemlich vorbestimmt war…. Man kann sehr viel von den Leuten in den Townships lernen, ihre Art zu teilen und miteinander umzugehen. Kein Ansatz von Neid, Eifersucht oder Habgier. Sie sind zufrieden mit dem, was sie haben und Familie und Gemeinschaftssinn sind das, was sie aufleben lässt.
Chris und ich waren einfach glücklich, als wir wieder von der Tour zurück gekommen sind und haben noch sehr viel daran denken müssen. Ein Erlebnis, das man nicht jeden Tag haben kann…
